The United States is losing billions of dollars each year by not collecting sales tax.  Tax attorney Steve Young of Holland and Hart explains why sales tax was originally instituted and why states need it.

Steve also talks about efforts to raise sales tax on services such as car repairs, health care and hair dressers.  If a state doesn't have enough money coming in from sales taxes, how do they pay for things they need to run it?

**Since this show was recorded, The Supreme Court ruled States have the right to collect sales tax from any business which ships items into their jurisdiction.  This overturns previous Court decisions which ruled taxing across state lines is unconstitutional.
